The "Christian Church" exists as an association of ordained clergy and congregations first established in 1794 in Surry, County, Virginia. We are rooted in the theology and rites of the former Methodist Episcopal Church of Virginia and to five Cardinal Principles:
  1. Christ Jesus is the Head of the Church.
  2. Christian is sufficient a name for a church.
  3. The Holy Bible is a sufficient rule for faith and practice.
  4. The individual has right of private judgment and liberty of conscience in all matters of faith and practice. 
  5. Christian character is sufficient for church membership.
